Transponder-coded safety switch for food and beverage

Euchner responds to need for more robust equipment

Arduous environments within UK food and beverage facilities often rapidly wear out exposed production equipment. This can lead to unplanned machine downtime, decreased productivity and unexpected costs. “Euchner has recognised the demand for more robust safety equipment and offers its popular CTP transponder coded safety switch in a Ecolab certified stainless steel variant,” says the company.

“The CTP switch has critical components including plugs, cover screws and guide bushes manufactured using high-quality inox steel, ensuring reliability and increased service life. The switch comes with Ecolab certification for resistance to acidic and alkaline based cleaning agents, making it highly suited to the food and beverage industry.

"Along with media resistance, it offers a high degree of ingress protection, rated at IP69K. This ensures the device is dust tight and offers protection against high pressure, close range spray downs.”

Uniquely coded actuator

A single CTP switch can achieve category 4/PL e according to EN ISO 13849-1, without additional fault exclusion. With two semiconductor safety outputs, these switches can be readily integrated into the majority of safety-related control systems. Transponder technology creates a uniquely coded actuator that is specifically assigned to the safety switch, which helps prevent personnel manipulating the safety system and fulfils the requirements of EN ISO 14119.

For detailed diagnostics, the CTP is equipped with 3 LEDs on the front. “These are clearly visible over a wide angle and provide all the important information on the status of the safety switch at a glance, optimising uptime of the plant,” adds Euchner. “The CTP comes with a comprehensive range of accessories, offering maximum flexibility during integration and mounting, whether different mechanical releases, pre-assembled cables or actuators are required.”
