Try the Universal Robot at the TOTAL 2013 exhibition

At the last TOTAL exhibition, R. A. Rodriguez introduced the processing and packaging sector to the Universal Robot, a lightweight and highly economical robotic arm that provides easy automation. At TOTAL 2013 the company will again be featuring this increasingly popular product but also demonstrating how complementary technology can now add intelligence and even greater scope of application.

The Universal Robot is an entry level automation device that provides six axes of movement and is quick to install. It can be easily moved around the factory and the user interface is exceptionally simple to learn. Even in the hands of an operator with little or no programming experience the robot can be up and running in less than an hour.

As Universal Robots are in compliance with the ISO standard for collaborative robots, they can be operated without safety guarding, providing the application meets certain criteria. Two models complete the range, respectively able to handle payloads up to 5 and 10kg. Both will feature on the R. A. Rodriguez stand, one demonstrating added-value automation and the other providing the opportunity for visitors to try the robot out themselves.

R. A. Rodriguez will also be demonstrating its expertise in the field of palletising. Its IEF Werner systems are designed to provide the efficient transfer of work pieces to and from assembly lines, often integrating end-of-line processes such as part marking and testing.

Four basic, fully programmable models complete the range, all of which can be tailored to suit the precise needs of the application. All are fundamentally designed to fill or unfill a tray with small components which is then indexed down the stack to allow a new tray to be presented. Pallet weights range from 5kg to 30kg.

Usually most applications require bespoke tray designs and gripper technology but IEF Werner palletisers are also available with a wide range of standard accessories to optimise the handling process.
