Two project management training courses from PPMA

PPMA is running two of its popular Project Management training courses in February 2020, namely Project Management on 11 February and Advanced Project Management on 12 February.

Two project management training courses from PPMA

Project Management

This one-day course is being held at the Hilton Manchester Airport and will be useful for anyone who manages or is involved with projects. Designed as an introductory course, is it aimed at people who have had no previous formal training in the subject, as well as those who want to refresh their current knowledge.

The main themes in the Project Management training course are the ways in which projects differ from routine tasks, the importance of planning and the key techniques that contribute to successful projects.

During the course, attendees will explore:

  • What is a project and what causes them to fail?
  • What does Project Management do for us?
  • Project lifecycles
  • Building a business case
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Network diagrams and scheduling
  • Risk and communication management
  • Monitoring and controlling projects

Ample opportunities will provided for attendees to quiz the presenters, and the lunch and tea/coffee breaks are useful for networking.

Further details and a registration form can be found on the PPMA website. Alternatively, contact Melanie Foote on +44 (0)20 8773 5525 (please mention MachineBuilding.net).

Advanced Project Management

The PPMA's Advanced Project Management training course, also at the Hilton Manchester Airport, takes place the following day on 12 February. This course is intended as a useful follow-on for people who have attended the Project Management course but it is also suitable for anyone with experience or an interest in project management (PM) and who wishes to develop their skills.

This one-day course looks at 'Agile PM' processes, stakeholder management ('difficult' stakeholders in particular!) and task management.

Topics covered include:

  • Agile PM
  • Dealing with difficult stakeholders
  • Conflict management
  • Task management and resourcing
  • Motivation and teamwork
  • Benefits realisation

Attendees will learn how to focus on 'shorter sprints' to maximise efficiency, improve stakeholder engagement, influence and persuade stakeholders, manage and understand conflict, and ensure projects create value.

Further details and a registration form can be found on the PPMA website. Alternatively, contact Melanie Foote on +44 (0)20 8773 5525 (please mention MachineBuilding.net).

Other PPMA training courses

In addition to the two project management training courses, the PPMA also presents machinery safety seminars covering the Machinery Directive, Machinery Risk Assessments, Machine Guarding, Functional Safety, Robotic Safety for Integrators, PUWER and CE Audits. Other management training courses address Communication Skills, Operational Excellence, Dealing with Difficult People, Effective Sales Skills for Non-Salespeople, HR for Non-HR Managers and Managing Workplace Performance. Furthermore, any of these seminars and courses can be tailored and presented exclusively to an organisation on an in-company basis.
