The MDrive14Plus Motion Control can reduce size, cost and complexity in a wide range of brushless motor applications without compromising functionality, and is excellent for applications where space is limited. This intelligent product includes a programmable controller and full-featured, easy-to-program instruction set. Communication is over either RS-422/485 or, optionally, CANopen.

Up to eight +5 to +24 volt general-purpose I/O lines are included, as well as one 10-bit analogue input, 0-5MHz step clock rate, and 20 microstep resolutions up to 51,200 steps per revolution. Optional closed-loop control adds: stall detection, position maintenance and find index mark.

The MDrive14Plus Motion Control accepts a broad input voltage range from 12-48V DC, delivering enhanced performance and speed. Oversized input capacitors are used to minimise power line surges, thereby reducing problems that can occur with long runs and multiple drive systems. An extended operating range of –40 to +85degC provides long-life, trouble-free service in demanding environments.

IMS claims the units benefit from unsurpassed smoothness and performance, which are achieved through advanced second-generation current control. By applying innovative techniques to control current flow through the motor, resonance is significantly dampened over the entire speed range and audible noise is reduced.
