Ultra-high-power-density servo drive for harsh environments

The Elmo Gold Triple Bee provides continuous currents of 270A and up to 16kW of qualitative power, making it one of the world's most powerful servo drives. Measuring just 80mm × 55mm, its extreme current capability makes it well suited for harsh environment applications requiring high power with limited space. This includes applications such as airborne UAVs, heavy-duty drones, turrets and firing stations.

Gold Triple Bee is an evolution of the Gold Bee miniature servo drive and is part of Elmo's ExtrIQ line of products designed to withstand extreme environments. It is proven to operate in temperatures ranging from -40degC to 70degC and withstand mechanical shocks of up to 20g and vibrations of up to 14.6Grms (2kHz). With a power conversion efficiency of approximately 99 per cent, it is suitable for both DC and battery-operated missions.

Other highlights on the Elmo Motion Control stand at DSEI 2019 will include a preview of the next ExtrIQ servo drive, the Platinum Bee, already selected for Rafael's next generation Litening targeting pod.

Rafael has used several generations of Elmo servo technology for its Litening pods over the years. Together, the two technologies have logged over two million hours of flight time, flying with 27 air forces and on 25 types of aircraft.
