Ultra-low-profile tact switches benefit from extended life

C+K Components is introducing new KMT series tact switches that are claimed to be the industry's smallest and lowest-profile top-actuated devices with an integrated actuator (push plate). The KMT series switches are also said to feature a 50 per cent longer operational life over comparable products - up to 150,000 operations

Gold and silver plating options are offered, and C&K says the switches have a superior tactile feel. They measure just 2.6 x 3.0 x 0.65mm, with 0.45mm body height, 0.20mm actuator height and 0.13mm travel. An integrated actuator for simpler button design provides an excellent tactile ratio of 30 per cent minimum, giving sharp feedback. KMT switches also have a grounding pin option for ESD protection and actuation force options of 1.6N (tactile ratio 30 per cent) for mobile devices and 1.0N (tactile ratio 10 per cent) for hearing aids and headsets.

Gary Mountford of C&K Components states: "KMT tact switches have been designed to meet the twin demands of miniaturization and ultra high reliability."
