Procter Machine Guarding has published the seventh edition of On Your Guard, the FREE guide to machine guarding standards. This new edition reflects the changes that have come about since the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC came into force on 29 December 2009 and includes an up-to-date table of British, European and International standards. In addition, there are some new statistics on injuries and fatalities relating to machinery.
Towards the end of the guidance there is a list of Useful resources. This has also been revised in line with recent developments. Finally, all of the contact details in the Further information section have been brought up to date.
Machine designers, guarding specifiers, health and safety managers, and health and safety representatives will find the guide very useful, as it not only lists the standards and other sources of information, but it also provides helpful design tips and advice on how to comply with regulatory requirements. As the UK's leading supplier, Procter Machine Guarding has a wealth of expertise in guarding design and is fully aware of the applicable standards in the UK, Europe and beyond; the company is therefore in an excellent position to share some of this knowledge. On Your Guard is intended to aid the specification and design of cost-effective guards that will deliver an appropriate level of safety and help to deter operators and maintenance personnel from attempting to bypass the safety measures.
