IDS Imaging Development Systems is releasing a UVC (USB Vision Class) version of the USB 3 uEye XC industrial camera. This means that the many benefits of this autofocus, 13 MPixel camera are now completely platform independent. The camera can simply be plugged into any computer running Windows, Linux or Mac OS X via a USB 3 connector without the need for any additional drivers. Images can be produced as soon as the camera is connected to the computer.
With a host of automated features and a compact housing the UV-3013XC camera is well suited to applications that experience changing ambient and light conditions. These include kiosk systems (vending machines, ATMs, multimedia stations, passport readers etc), access control, logistics and transportation.
Extensive automatic features mean that hardly any manual adjustment of settings is required, bringing the capabilities normally only available from commercial digital cameras to industrial vision applications. These include autofocus, automatic exposure, white balance and gain controls. Other features include 16× digital zoom, face detection and backlight compensation.
The 13 MPixel XC camera delivers images with a resolution of 4192 × 3104 or 4128 × 3096 pixels or can produce live video in resolutions up to full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels) with a maximum frame rate of 30 frames/s. Users can also implement their own applications via DirectShow (Windows) or Video4Linux (Linux). The version of the camera available with the IDS Software Suite allows for manual configuration of camera parameters.
