Visit Micro-Epsilon UK at the Engineering Design Show

For the third year in succession, Micro-Epsilon UK will be exhibiting at the Engineering Design Show (Wednesday 22 - Thursday 23 October 2014, Jaguar Exhibition Hall, Ricoh Arena, Coventry). Visitors to stand C25 will have the opportunity to view and interact with sensor technologies from Micro-Epsilon, including demonstrations of non-contact eddy current, confocal, laser and capacitive displacement sensors, as well as the latest thermal imaging camera, the thermoIMAGER TIM 640. As usual, experts from Micro-Epsilon will be on hand throughout the show to provide advice and guidance on sensor selection or to discuss specific application issues.

Highlights on the stand this year will include the company's latest innovation in thermal imaging, the thermoIMAGER TIM 640. This infrared thermal imaging camera is able to record radiometric video at an optical resolution of 640×480 pixels - making it the highest resolution infrared camera available on the market today for 6800. With compact dimensions of 45×56×90mm and a weight of 320g (including lens), compared with other similar-size cameras, says the company, the TIM 640 is the only camera that enables the recording of radiometric video images at 32Hz and a VGA resolution of 640×480 pixels.

For measurement tasks that require high precision, visitors can view the IFS 2405 confocal chromatic sensor, which offers very high sensitivity and sub-micrometre resolution - critical when it comes to inspecting the shape and size of small structures during or post-production. These sensors can be integrated to linear X-Y stages, machine tools or special purpose inspection systems. As well as distance measurements on reflective and transparent materials, the sensors can also perform one-sided thickness measurement of clear film, PCBs or layers.

The eddyNCDT 3100 represents a world first in eddy current displacement measurement. With its Smart Sensor Auto Calibration system, visitors can see how easily and quickly the sensor connects to the 3100 controller. All calibration data is then automatically uploaded from the sensor to the controller, with no need for any lengthy calibration. All calibration data required for both ferrous (St37) and non-ferrous (aluminium) target materials is stored in the sensor before it is shipped. User-specific target materials can also be measured accurately using Micro-Epsilon's push-button, 3-point linearisation.

Micro-Epsilon's eddyNCDT 3100 controller is also equipped with many new features, including Ethernet connection for output signal and configuration. The configuration of the controller can be performed from the user's web browser by simply typing in the controller IP address - no additional software needs to be downloaded. All controllers are supplied with a default IP address that the user can amend later to a specific IP address.

Following the launch of its high-resolution capacitive measurement system, the capaNCDT 6200, Micro-Epsilon has extended its range to include the DL6230 demodulator, which offers up to 10 times higher resolution and is able to synchronise measurements from multiple banks of controllers, giving users complete flexibility to mix-and-match controllers, demodulators and capacitive sensors to suit their application requirements. The DL6230 demodulator can now be added to the capaNCDT 6200 controller and/or DL6220 demodulator as an expansion module. As well as an Ethernet interface, the DL6230 also provides an EtherCAT interface.
