WDS extends swivel feet range with low-profile easy fit version

Standard parts and components supplier, WDS Components, has added a range of female fit levelling feet to provide OEMs and machine builders with a low-profile design.

The new swivel feet, which adjust to unlevel or uneven flooring, are easy to fit, even when machinery is in position. The range is available in a variety of materials, colours and sizes for same-day despatch.

A compact, swivel ball insert provides 50° forward and backwards tilt across a 360° horizontal plane, enabling the feet to adjust to unlevel floors or uneven ground. Based on WDS’ extensive range of male insert self-levelling feet, the new design uses a compact, female thread insert instead of the extended male thread. This gives the swivel feet a low profile, reducing the height of the machinery or installation.

As a result, WDS says the new feet are ideal for OEM machine builders, particularly involving thin wall sheet metal and aluminium profiles. Using the high-quality plastic base versions, the feet also protect flooring and can also dampen vibration and reduce noise, especially for use with machinery. The versatile range means that the feet can also be installed across wider industrial assemblies and logistics solutions, as well as commercial and office environments. Thanks to anti-microbial treatment and clean in place (CIP) designs, versions of the insert are also suitable for use in the food and beverage sector.

The advantage of the female thread also means simpler, faster installation, and the feet can be slotted under a heavy machine or equipment already in place. The feet can be secured with cap screws, fastened by hex key with access from above. This enables greater flexibility in choice of mounting location, with an increased level of accessibility for easier installation. Double-bolt down versions also offer secure ground anchoring if required.

Choice of base includes polypropylene available in black, white or blue. Metal bases range from a nickel plated steel for corrosion resistance, as well as a higher specification nickel plated version that adds brightness and greater protection. 304 and high grade 316 stainless steel versions are also available. These metal combinations are also available for the swivel ball design. Anti-microbial pads can be added and, along with a stainless steel swivel ball, these designs can be used in applications that undergo regular washdown with aggressive detergents.

The swivel feet are available in a wide range of sizes to suit a variety of application needs. Thread sizes extend from M6 up to M16, with low profile height beginning from just 17.5mm. As the feet are assembled in house at WDS’ Leeds facility, this provides high flexibility over availability. Swivel feet are available in high volume orders for OEMs, as well as single units. Dependent on requirements, orders can also be despatched same day.
