Webinar: functional safety standard EN ISO 13849-1
TUV SUD Product Service is running a functional safety of machinery webinar on 12 December 2012 at 14:00 (this has been postponed from the original date of 24 October). Follow the link to register for the webinar, which will be presented by machinery safety expert Stewart Robinson.
Within the field of machinery safety, standards relating to the safety-related parts of control systems have been a topic of concern for some time. EN 954-1 (BS EN 954-1 in the UK), the relatively popular standard for safety-related parts of control systems, was withdrawn in December 2011. EN ISO 13849-1 (BS EN ISO 13849-1 in the UK) is the closest direct replacement and the one-hour webinar will look at the process involved in complying with the functional safety standard, including defining Performance Levels and validating the designed system, taking into account diagnostic coverage and common cause failure rates.
