Despite the prevailing economic conditions within the United Kingdom, Weiss UK Ltd had a record year in 2008, with the UK turnover exceeding 500,000 for the first time since starting trading direct to the UK market in 2001. Weiss UK Ltd is the UK subsidiary of Weiss GmbH, a European leader in indexing technology.
The UK operation has seen a steady growth over the previous seven years as the Weiss reputation for quality, reliability and performance has spread to new customers and new markets. Continued growth has also been aided by the ongoing introduction of new products such as the LS280 high-speed linear indexing system, the HP140 freely programmable handling unit and the CR series of heavy-duty indexers. The comprehensive range of assembly automation modules offered by Weiss is, according to the company, fast becoming an 'industry standard for the UK market' and this has also been a contributing factor to the ongoing success of Weiss UK.
Another important milestone for 2008 was the introduction of the CR series heavy-duty indexer range into General Motor's Vauxhall Plant in Ellesmere Port. Weiss received an order for over 30 of these freely programmable heavy-duty units, representing a significant investment in Weiss equipment, which is in addition to the record turnover achieved for domestic sales. Weiss UK's general manager, Keith Gardner, says: "This year's results once again confirm that the quality, reliability and performance of our assembly automation modules are key factors in the continued growth and success of Weiss UK."
