White paper describes potential for huge savings in drive energy

The white paper "Energy saving above and beyond the electric motor' looks at the potential for huge savings in energy costs in machine drive systems. It was presented on 19 April 2012 to the Energy & Safety Conference at the Drives & Controls exhibition. The white paper is aimed at engineers responsible for the design and operation of industrial machinery, and also senior managers with responsibility for the costs of plant operation. It extends to 1450 words with 14 illustrations.

White paper describes potential for huge savings in drive energy

The main points of the white paper are:

  • energy savings from efficient motors such as those meeting IE3 regulations are significant, but correct gearbox selection can save much more
  • use of frequency inverters in certain types of described applications can save 30 to 50 per cent of energy costs
  • there are three possible ways to make use of regenerated energy with possible savings of 40 to 50 per cent in running costs
  • optimising all the components in the drive train by use of dimensioning software can make further significant savings

Those interested can request a free copy of the white paper. It can be sent by email, or if requested by post with a UK address it will be sent with the brochure "Intelligent concepts to cut costs and protect the environment' and a CD with more than 7000 catalogue pages including energy saving drives.
