Wireless position switches, sensors for explosive environments

Plant and machine design engineering teams working within explosive environments can use Ex RF 96 electromechanical wireless position sensors to monitor machine components, or alternatively, use contactless Ex RF IS wireless inductive sensors instead. Both the electromechanical Ex position switches and Ex sensors are approved to the latest ATEX-/IECEx standards for use in Ex zones 1 and 21 and were presented at the SPS 2019 event back in November. The wireless signals require so little energy, says steute, that there is no danger of explosion. The company confirms that the updated products are suited to mounting on machines and plant where access is difficult because the need for communication cabling has been eliminated through the use of wireless technology.
