Xpirt Lasers at PPMA Show 2008

A newcomer to the PPMA show in 2008 is Xpirt Lasers. Director David Miller says: "We are hoping for great things from the PPMA exhibition as we launch our ranges of laser systems and services into the UK and European markets. I have been to the PPMA many times before and always found it to be an excellent launchpad for innovative technologies into the UK market. With Xpirt Lasers' blend of an excellent product range, over 70 years of in-depth experience in lasers for the packaging industry, and a deep understanding of what our customers want, we believe that we are offering the best package of laser solutions to the industry."

Xpirt lasers is introducing three product ranges, each with different application sectors:

  • The carbon dioxide laser marking systems range, in powers from 10-200W, is used for ablation and colour change reactions including use with laser-responsive printing inks. The systems can be used for marking dates, text, graphics and other data on static or moving products including high-speed printing of serialisation numbers in the form of alphanumerics and 2D codes for market sectors such as pharmaceutical and tobacco. These systems are already being used for printing onto primary and secondary packaging and also in some product applications. The systems are configured in one housing, which simplifies the installation. They also come with an Ethernet connection for central control. The SHS model variants are claimed to be the fastest systems available in their class, enabling more data to be written at higher speeds.
  • The Nd:Yag laser marking system range has powers of 10 and 20W. The compact-diode pumped YAG lasers are excellent for marking products with ultra-clear messages at low operating costs. The technology gives long life and low maintenance. The systems are used to mark what are traditionally termed 'hard-to-mark' materials that the CO2 lasers do not mark, such as bare metals and certain plastics. The systems can be configured to have small spot sizes for high-definition printing of graphics or small images.
  • The Fibre laser marking system range has powers from 10-50W. This versatile fibre laser system enables marking of a wide range of materials, from flexible foil and plastics to metal. The new fibre laser technology offers long life and high reliability with excellent spot size, a compact marking head and high-speed operation.

Xpirt Lasers can provide a full range of laser technologies alongside services such as consultancy, project management, laser ablation and laser imaging, as well as training. If customers are not in a position to implement in-house laser technology, Xpirt Lasers can also provide contract laser marking services.
