New linear and pivoting slide from igus

A new drylin W linear guide fitted with a PRT slewing ring bearing provides a combination of linear and rotating motion, allowing greater freedoms for machine design teams. With the drylin W linear/pivot guide, armrests, trays and control panels on seats and machines (to cite just a few examples) can be easily adjusted to suit the user. igus points out that the new units are supplied as a complete assembly, obviating the previous need for users to create their own. The lubrication-free polymer sliding elements are said to ensure quiet movement.

Fluid absorption plug could be handy if you're moving machines

The Essentra Components Fluid Absorption Plug is designed to control any excess residue of fluid in an assembly such as a machine, gearbox or other oil filled mechanism which has had its oil drained for transport, maintenance or perhaps an installation process. The absorption plug's sturdy plastic peak allows for quick and easy installation and removal, says Essentra, saving time and costs. Simply push in - the foam expands to form a firm interference fit - then just pull out when required.

IEC 61076-2-012 for M12 Push-Pull connector

The push-pull version of the M12 connector with inner locking from Yamaichi Electronics is claimed to be the very first M12 push-pull design to meet IEC 61076-2-012. With push-pull and inner locking, the cable-side connector engages deep into the device socket from the inside with locking hooks. As a result, the push-pull system requires only the same installation space as a common M12 connection with screw locking, and it is possible to completely insert the M12 socket into a device, for example to integrate it into a distribution box, aligned flush with its housing. The system is IP65 / IP67 water and dust proof and uses independent sealing designs for the screw-type and push-pull connector, allowing mixed usage of connectors.

Improved optical sensor modules from Yokogawa

Yokogawa is launching new, more capable versions of its AQ2200 optical sensor modules. The AQ2200-212 is a single channel optical sensor module, complete with an analog output port, while the AQ2200-222 offers two channels. Designed to work with the AQ2200 series frame controllers, the new modules offer improved performance over the existing AQ2200-221. The AQ2200-212 and the AQ2200-222 both offer a wide power range of +15 to -90dBm, compared with the AQ2200-221's figure of +10 to -70dBm. The modules can also achieve a seamless measurement of approximately 30dB without switching the measurement range.

New Industry 4.0-ready valve islands with fieldbus connection

Camozzi Automation's Series D range of smart valve islands has been extended with the introduction of a fieldbus connection option: it means that Series D is now available for connection to all the main fieldbus protocols (PROFIBUS-DP, PROFINET, CANopen, EtherNET/IP, EtherCAT and IO-Link) through a new serial module. The company says that the combination of the Series D valve island and the serial module makes it easy to integrate pneumatic and electric functions in advanced automation systems, as it allows an increase in the number of controllable valves as well as the interconnection of analogue and digital I/O modules in a single network node.

New ultra-high-efficiency infrared SMA fibre-optic transmitter

OMC is announcing its new FDE870HE industrial fibre optic transmitter LED, which it claims can deliver up to four times more launch power into multimode fibre for the same current versus existing transmitter devices. The transmitter contains a high-performance 870nm chip and features an array of micro-optic elements that gather and focus the emitted photons, coupling considerably more light into multimode optical fibres. This, says OMC, enables data to be transmitted reliably over greater distances, or for the system to use less power to achieve the same result. Greater long-term reliability of the system is a further benefit due to the enhanced day-1 launch power and much lower drive current requirements.
