Ultra-compact, high-efficiency DIN-Rail power supplies revealed

PULS Power has introduced new models in its PIANO series of DIN-Rail AC/DC converters. The PIANO-PIM family has been designed for use in industrial applications which only require a basic power supply, avoiding the need for users to pay for unnecessary control and communication facilities, says the company. The new series offers a 100-240V AC range input; 24V DC output units are available in three versions: PIM36 (36W), PIM60 (60W) and PIM90 (90W). With these additions to its range PULS now provides users with a complete and cost-oriented product family with outputs from 30W to 480W. At ambient temperatures between -10 °C and +55 °C, the devices work at full power without derating. The PIM90 is also available as an NEC Class 2 version for the US market.

Ruland has just expanded its range of adjustable components to include star knobs and clamping handles: the company says the new additions give machine designers a wider variety of standard in-stock components to choose from when quick installation, adjustment and removal is desired without the use of tools.

New industrial interface is easier to assemble

Harting has introduced the RJ Industrial MultiFeature series, an RJ industrial interface which is said to be "Significantly easier to assemble in the field as it no longer requires a separate tool". With the RJ Industrial in the new MultiFeature series, Harting says it is responding to customer demands for simpler operation and field assembly capability: so these latest additions to the series now offers tool-free assembly for easier use together with a robust metal housing.

Upgraded pressure sensors from SICK

SICK has upgraded its pressure sensor offering with the arrival of its multifunctional PBS Plus, combining electronic pressure control, measurement and real-time monitoring in a single IO-Link enabled device. SICK says that its "˜next-generation' PBS Plus "Combines application versatility and high-machine availability with an improved measurement capability between 0.4 and 1000 bar (gauge pressure)". The high 0.5 per cent accuracy, together with a scalable analogue output with 5:1 turn-down ratio, supports the ability to set even small measurement ranges to suit the application. With IO-Link as standard, PNP/NPN and analogue outputs available, the SICK PBS Plus can process many switching, measurement, and pressure data feedback tasks.

New spring hinge has new features

News from industrial hardware specialists Pinet is the arrival of a new rolled knuckle spring hinge with dual-function spring opening assistance, now available through FDB Panel Fittings. These aluminium spring hinges (in discreet piano-style) are suitable for industrial applications for a wide variety of applications on machines as well as in the workshop and office too.

Air bleed orifices improve hydraulic system efficiency

Like engineers in other sectors, many machine builders who are turning to hydraulics remain keen to reduce the weight and size of their designs. Concurrently, there is often a need to cater for increased system pressures and also to reduce system pressure losses and to assist with this, The Lee Company has just introduced a new range of air bleed orifices. Lee's Industrial Micro Hydraulics Group (IMH) has developed its new 5.5mm Air Bleed Orifice as a solution to the problem of removing trapped air in hydraulic systems - which can clearly cause issues with system performance given that air is compressible and hydraulic fluid is not. Trapped air causes slower system reaction times, a "˜spongy feel' and can degrade performance in a system.

ElectroCraft has introduced a new range of hybrid stepper-based linear actuators, and the company is offering versions which are configurable or completely customisable in three designs: a linear actuator (non-captive), a leadscrew motor (external linear) or a guided linear actuator (captive).

New control cabinet inverters from Nord Drive Systems

Nord Drive Systems is introducing NORDAC PRO SK 500P frequency inverters. They are equipped with an integrated multi-protocol Ethernet interface, a multi-encoder interface for multiple axis operation and a USB interface for voltage-free parameterisation. These new control cabinet inverters cover rated motor powers from 0.25 to 5.5kW and, according to Nord, feature high levels of connectivity, functionality and versatility. Various device versions are available and offer pug-in control, safety and option modules ensure flexibility. What Nord refers to as "The compact book-size design format" enables space-saving installation in control cabinets.

New hybrid cable for Bosch Rexroth MS2N and IndraDrive Mi motors

In order to supply modern motors with energy and data, machine builders need appropriate cables that function reliably, even at high acceleration rates and on long travels. To cater for such requirements igus has now developed a hybrid cable that is offered as a drive solution for the new Bosch Rexroth motors. It combines an energy and data cable in one, and is said to be suitable for compact installation where space is limited. igus also offers the cable as a fully harnessed readycable.

New ceramic desiccant compressed air dryer from Atlas Copco

The new, compact CD 20âº-335âº from Atlas Copco is the first compressed air dryer to use what the company refers to as "The revolutionary Cerades ceramic solid structural desiccant". It has been developed and patented by Atlas Copco to achieve improved air quality with lower energy and service costs along with environmental and health protection benefits. Until now, says Atlas Copco, desiccant in air dryers has always consisted of loose beads made of activated alumina, molecular sieves, or silica gel, and Cerades is the first ever solid, ceramic desiccant. It is the result of years of research and development by Atlas Copco with the goal of radically improving desiccant dryer design, efficiency, and performance.
