Power over Ethernet extenders from Panduit

Panduit is announcing the arrival of new Power over Ethernet (PoE) extenders on UTP copper cable, which enables network connections to reach up to 610m (2000ft). This new series of devices support full duplex (bi-directional simultaneous) data transmission up to 100Mbps for 100BASE-TX or Fast Ethernet applications. Supplying power and data to up to 4-IP devices through a single copper cable, Panduit says that PoE extenders represent an "Easy to install, cost effective solution for multiple applications".

Industrial gear units for heavy-duty applications

For applications up to 250kNm, Nord Drivesystems provides robust industrial gear units which it says "Are characterised by high power density, quiet operation and reliability". The modular system with multiple options also provides machine builders with a high level of design flexibility. MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units deliver output torques from 15 to 250kNm and are said to be well suited for use in heavy-duty applications such as agitators, belt drives, mixers, mills, drums or crushers. A torsionally-rigid, single-piece UNICASE housing is said to help achieve a longer bearing life than gear casings manufactured from jointed parts, and large, low-friction rolling bearings are used to cope with high axial and radial loads over a long service life. The company offers these industrial gear units as either parallel or right-angle versions which cover popular speed ratios from 5.54:1 to 400:1, and can go up to 30.000:1 with an auxiliary primary stage gear unit.

Parker launches PSD intelligent standalone servo drive

Parker Hannifin is extending its Parker Servo Drive (PSD) family of products with the launch of a fully programmable drive suitable for a wider range of applications. The programmable PSD is described as an intelligent standalone servo drive, which is fully programmable via IEC 61131-3 with runtime based on the widely distributed CODESYS V3. It is supported with a full set of PLCopen function blocks, which allows for fast and effective set up of motion functions.

High force integrated actuator reduces footprint

INMOCO is now supplying Tolomatic's high force integrated motor rod-style actuators to UK users. These new electric actuators with integrated servo motors allow designers to reduce machine footprint and extend service life, and Tolomatic's IMA actuators have been developed specifically for OEMs requiring high force in a compact and durable package. The units feature an integrated servo motor and actuator design and provide up to 30.6kN push and pull force. This design is stated to reduce the overall footprint of the machine by removing the need for an external motor. INMOCO also says that the integrated approach simplifies machine design and installation, which can be further extended with a single cable option if a Hiperface DSL encoder is used.

Würth Elektronik introduces new flat-ribbon cables

Small and flexible flat-ribbon cables are widely used by machine builders in LCD screens, as well as board-to-board connections for medical equipment, test and measurement devices and a whole range of industrial applications. In many of these, it is not important to have a vibration-free interlock for the plug-in connector, and for such applications, Würth Elektronik has now introduced what it refers to as a less expensive and easier-to-assemble solution to an LIF connector.

New environmentally sealed pressure switch

Manufactured by World Magnetics Company and available in the UK and Europe from Variohm EuroSensor, the new DesignFlex PSF111 series environmentally sealed pressure/vacuum switch is designed for challenging switching tasks where dust and water ingress prevention is required. The waterproof snap-action switch suits pressure and vacuum configurations with switching ranges from -822 to + 4137mbar (-11.9 to +60psi) and is available in a choice of port configurations and mounting options.

Wireless position switches, sensors for explosive environments

"Wireless Ex" is a technology developed in Germany by a company called Extreme, part of the steute group, which is said to simplify the assembly and operation of sensors and switchgear in explosive environments. With the advent of new technology, switching devices are no longer connected to the receivers in a control cabinet via Ex-compatible cables, but instead use a low-energy wireless protocol created especially for such applications. As such, it is certified to ATEX and IECEx standards.

Ruland and Reliance Precision have agreed to co-operate by offering Reliance designed and manufactured slit couplings through Ruland's eCommerce platform and worldwide distribution network. Ruland will stock (and bore to size) a wide selection of slit couplings at its Marlborough, MA location. The addition of slit couplings gives Ruland a more complete zero-backlash coupling portfolio, to complement its existing product range which includes rigid, beam, bellows, controlflex, disc, jaw, and oldham couplings.

New Panasonic placement machine

Panasonic Factory Solutions, a division of Panasonic Industry Europe, has introduced a new dual-gantry, multi-head, odd-form placement and insertion machine. Known as the NPM-VF, it is the latest development in a line of previous SMT oddform placement machines and is stated "To provide new levels of flexibility within the production environment".

SKF extends range of JIS-compliant ball bearing units

With the introduction of its new UC 300 series of ball bearing units, SKF says it has increased protection against contamination in heavy-duty applications. According to the company its new UC 300 ball bearing units feature "Superior sealing, stronger locking and interchangeability with all JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) housings".
