Robust and reliable sensors for automatic hand sanitisers

We're all familiar with them, especially in recent times, but what you may not be aware of is that many automatic, non-contact hand sanitisers incorporate miniature optical sensors supplied by Baumer. The sensors ensure reliable and safe hand detection at switching distances that vary from 15mm up to 300mm, at any angle of incidence, (even when the viewing window is soiled) and they do so for the entire lifetime of the device. Adjustable switching delays also prevent multiple or unwanted spray bursts to reduce wastage. Further, thanks to high immunity to ambient light, there are no restrictions to the sensor functions even in very bright environments.

In the modern world, the ideal situation is for the sharpest thing on a machine to be the person who designed it, but when the equipment reaches the factory floor it can be a different matter. To help obviate the possibility of sharp edges on machines or factory hardware causing injury or inconvenience to staff, EMKA offers a range extruded edge protectors. Optimum lubrication for linear guides improves operating times

DuraSense from Schaeffler comprises a guide carriage with sensors, as well as an electronic evaluation unit that allows up to seven sensors to be connected to it. Why the sensors? For monitoring the lubrication conditions of the linear guide carriage. During a defined reference run, the lubrication conditions for each guide carriage are continuously recorded from the vibration energy emitted. These conditions are checked against a limit value known as the "lubrication indicator" and if the described limit value is exceeded, relubrication takes place.

Water-cooled large AC motors: more power, less maintenance

New from ABB are the AXW 315 and 400 IEC water-cooled AC motors, said by the company to deliver an average of 40 per cent more power over conventional fan-cooled designs, and to provide extended insulation and bearing life. ABB also states that its AXW 315 and 400 IEC water-cooled motors also offer more watts per kilogram than conventional totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) motors, making them smaller and lighter but just as powerful. The motors' smaller footprint also allows for compact installations where space is limited.

Laser proximity sensor with background suppression

"Detect all" is one of the operating modes of SensoPart's newly introduced BGS sensor, and it is a function that its new addition to the range takes quite literally, according to the company. It states that the new FT 55-RLHM can cope with any type of target object, whether it is brilliant metal, transparent or black against a black background. The sensor is said to respond to all deviations from a given reference, such as a change in object distance, a different surface finish or even a deflected laser light beam. In this mode the sensor has no blind zone: that is, objects are detected from 0mm. Even small parts are said to be reliably identified within the defined detection range, including objects at acute angles.

New 3D vision sensor with extended field of operation

FANUC is expanding its range of integrated image processing products with the introduction of the 3DV/600 Vision Sensor. The new arrival offers users an extended field of vision in comparison to other models in the range, and is designed for use in multiple applications, including bin picking, feeding an assembly line or stacking pallets. Complete with the 2D Camera Package, 3D Laser Sensor and 3D Area Sensor, the 3DV/600, the company says it can form part of a highly integrated, high-performance portfolio for industrial image processing.

HBM launches new hygienic single-point load cell

HBM's new PW37P load cell is EHEDG certified, ensuring it meets the strictest hygiene requirements. The company states that this makes it suitable for food packaging and the aseptic filling and weighing or packing of food and beverages. With capacities of 50kg, 100kg and 200kg, the PW37 complements the existing HBM PW27 (10-20kg) and now allows the hygienic weighing of higher loads.

Versatile DV2100 range signal lamps from ifm electronic

Capable of displaying up to seven different colours and featuring IP67 construction, signal lamps in the new DV2100 range from ifm electronic are suitable for machine and plant status signalling applications, either as an upgrade or as original equipment. To increase versatility, the new lamps can be supplied with an integral sounder that generates audible warnings at up to 90dB, and with an integral no-wear capacitive pushbutton. Versions are also available with both of these options. All models in the DV2100 range have an IO-Link interface for straightforward connectivity together with conventional digital inputs for use in simple and legacy applications.

TVR Instruments announces new temperature protection relays

TVR Instruments is announcing an addition to its Ziehl industrie elektronik range of temperature protection relays with new models designated TR640IP and TR660IP. These two new temperature measuring and monitoring relays offer inputs for up to 6 sensors either 6 x Pt 100, Pt 1000, or PTC thermistors. Different sensors can be connected at the same time, for example Pt 100 (RTD) and PTC thermistors.
