New cable clamps with EMC shield protection

Foremost Electronics is announcing the availability of its icotek LFC cable clamps with EMC shield connection, for use on the industry standard 30mm DIN-Rail shape C. The new LFC allows the cable shield to be connected directly to the DIN-Rail whilst allowing an existing cable clamp to be used for strain relief. The company states that its new EMC shield clamp is easy to use and offers effective earthing of single cable shields. Key features include space-saving assembly, the fact that no tools are required, high vibration resistance, a large clamping range (from 3 to 30mm), a large shielding contact area, shield contact and strain relief separated. It fits all standard DIN C-rails (16-17mm).

Branson GLX Micro - a new laser welder

Under its Branson brand, Emerson has just introduced the GLX Micro Laser Welder, designed for manufacturers making smaller and more delicate plastic parts, particularly those used in the medical and consumer electronics industries. The benchtop version of the GLX Series uses advanced laser technology and low clamp force to produce "Precise, clean and repeatable welds of superior aesthetic quality and performanc" according to the company. The new welder uses patented Simultaneous Through-Transmission Infrared (STTlr) laser welding technology, which Branson claims enables manufacturers to achieve superior weld strength and quality with speed and flexibility. With STTIr, all lasers are fired simultaneously to heat, melt and bond the component parts along the entire weld surface in 0.5 to 5s, depending on the material and the geometric complexity of the part. This method is said to be both highly repeatable and stable, thus helping to increase production throughput.

Rittal unveils new AX and KX enclosure ranges

Rittal's new AX compact enclosure and KX small enclosure ranges are designed to offer consistent data delivery and other benefits, including what the company claims is a 30 per cent reduction in assembly time, with 30 per cent more space for cables and no less than 30 new features. The company is giving full support to users to help them make the switch to the new systems, and one example of this is its online conversion tool, which is based on parts lists in Excel format. The user simply uploads an existing parts list - for example from a current project - to the website to receive a parts list for the new AX or KX components.

Roll feed and winding web length measurement

Wachendorff LMSMA length measurement systems optimise length, position and speed feedback in numerous roll winding and web-based machinery applications. The length measurement system includes a novel spring-loaded arm design that facilitates straightforward mounting, fast pressure adjustment and suitability for use with any surface material. Variohm EuroSensor is Wachendorff's exclusive UK distributor, and the LMSMA series is based on the German manufacturer's industrial incremental or absolute rotary encoders for linear positioning resolution ranging from 1mm to 8 microns per pulse. LMSMA is available in four standard design options, each with a choice of four incremental encoder resolutions to suit the required linear positioning requirements. The units feature a choice of 200mm or 500mm measuring wheels, and the encoder/wheel assembly is mounted on the special spring-loaded arm. It can be mounted onto a machine using its integral base-plate, or alternatively mounted via a pre-assembled anodised aluminium angle-bracket. Both options are designed for use with commonly available profile rail systems.
