Aerotech's new VascuLathe revolutionises manufacture of stents

With the new VascuLathe, Aerotech presents an innovative cutting system for demanding stent production. Its fully integrated movement system combines automated material handling functions with a direct drive for both linear and rotary motions. According to the manufacturer, this integrated linear-rotation design enables a two- to five-fold increase in throughput compared with conventional drive principles based on ball screws or other technologies. It furthermore allows for manufacturing tolerances in the sub-micrometre range.

New metal-cored welding wire for high-strength steels

ESAB is launching Coreweld 69 LT H4, a metal-cored welding wire for high-strength steels. Benefiting from very low diffusible hydrogen, this new wire achieves a yield strength of 690MPa or greater and excellent sub-zero toughness down to -60degC.

Flow sensors operate reliably in high-temperature environments

When things start getting hot, conventional flow sensors often reach their limits, for example in heat treatment applications such as manufacture of high-strength ceramics and cooling circuits in sintering furnaces. When temperatures rise above 100degC, most sensors are unable to cope, can fail after a short period of time and frequently have to be replaced. In the meantime there is a solution with the availability of flow and temperature sensors specifically designed for high-temperature applications. A good example is the range of FlexFlow thermal flow sensors available from Baumer.
